WICHITA, Kan. - On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Newman men's soccer team played host to the #20 Fort Hays State Tigers. This game would be a great defensive battle for both sides. It was very chippy from kick-off. Both teams would have players earn red cards in the 39th minute and would have to continue the match a man down. Neither team could take advantage of their opportunities in the first half.
In the 69th minute,
Ignacio Lerech was able to take advantage of a miscue by the Tigers defender and gain a one on one opportunity with the Tigers goalkeeper. Lerech was able to beat the goalkeeper to score the games only goal as the Jets would get revenge on the Tigers for a 4-0 loss earlier in the year.Â
