WICHITA, Kan. – On Friday night the Jets played host to #14 Northwest Missouri State University inside Fugate Gymnasium. This was the second of three top 15 school that the Jets had to face in the last two weeks with Central Missouri coming to town tomorrow afternoon. The Jets were looking to finish the season strong, while Northwest Missouri State was looking to secure the season sweep of the Jets and improve their conference standing.
In the first set, the Jets were able to go on a 4-0 run to cut NWMSU lead to 14-10. However the woes continue for the Jets offense as the Bearcats would go on a couple of 3-0 runs and a 6-0 run. The Jets would fight back at the end as they scored 2 points while facing match point. NWMSU would win the set 25-18 and take a 1-0 lead for the match.
In the second set, the same problems would continue to haunt the Jets. With the Jets trailing 14-9, the Bearcats would go on a 11-7 run including a 5-0 run. Northwest Missouri State would take the second set by a score of 25-16, leading the match 2-0.
In the third and final set, the Jets were looking to avoid the sweep. The Jets would make the third set close but would ultimately fall short. With the Jets trailing 21-18, the Bearcats would finish off the Jets on a 4-1 run to win the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
