OKLAHOMA CITY — The Newman baseball team finished their series against Oklahoma Christian Saturday afternoon. The Eagles had a big fourth and sixth inning to take a big lead over the Jets and take the series 2-1.
The Jets were down early, going into the third inning the team was able to jump right back into the game and Koby Millner got things started early with a single and a stolen base that would bring up Paul Rupnik who would groundout to the shortstop scoring Millner tying the game at one. A double to left center by Daniel Blake scoring Mitchell Austin Gave the Jets the early lead. The Jets would take the lead again in a tied game, a Chris Opolka single to right field scoring Jace Piepkorn the Jets now a 3-2 lead.
The Jets and Eagles were locked in another battle as the game was getting into the later stages. The Eagles would have two good innings to take lead over the Jets. Newman was able to tac on another run late in the game but it wasn't enough as the Eagles would take the game two victory over the Jets and win the series 2-1.
Millner and Blake were able to give the Jets multiple hits in the loss Saturday, Blake would also add two RBIs for the Jets.
The Jets travel to Alva, Oklahoma for a midweek contest against Northwestern Oklahoma State first pitch scheduled for 3 PM.
