Jets drop series finale to the Wildcats 15-1

WICHITA, Kan. – The Jets hosted the Wayne State Wildcats for the final game of a three game weekend series on a breezy but warm day at McCarthy Field. The Wildcats would come out swinging as the Jets wouldn't be able to hold them scoreless in an inning until the sixth, while Wayne State's Obrecht held the Jets hitless until the fifth inning. WSC would win the series finale 15-1 to win the weekend.

The Wildcats would get back to back doubles in the first inning to get the scoring started. They would then follow that up with a 5 run inning with a bases loaded double. In the third, the Wildcats would get a 2 RBI double and a sac fly to take an early 9-0 lead. The fourth inning would see Wayne State get on the board with the long ball as they would hit a solo homerun and a 3 run homerun to stretch their lead to 13-0.

WSC would get two more runs in the top of the fifth on a 2 run RBI double. In the bottom of the fifth, the Jets would finally get on the board after Aaron Eshelman walked and Jared Hasik was hit by a pitch, bringing Matt Reeves to the plate who would drive in Eshelman with an RBI single. Neither team would score in the sixth or the seventh inning as Newman would fall to Wayne State in a 15-1 run rule.

Zach Hargrove, Dalton Dinkel and Matt Reeves had all of Newman's hits in the game.
