LAST TIME OUT
After falling behind early, the Jets would respond by making back-to-back three point baskets to take the 6-3 lead with 7:50 left in the first quarter. With the score 12-11 in favor of the Blue Tigers, Newman would go on a 7-0 run to gain the six point advantage with just over two minutes left in the opening quarter. The Blue Tigers would outscore the Jets 7-5 to close out the quarter as the Jets would take a 23-19 lead going into the second quarter. The Jets would start the quarter on a 8-2 run expanding their lead 31-21. Newman would be able to stretch their lead to as much as 11 points in the quarter before Lincoln would cut the Jets lead to 36-29 going into the intermission after scoring the final four points of the half. Lincoln (0-8, 0-8) would begin the second half on a 6-2 run cutting the Jets lead to three, 38-35 just over two minutes into the half. Both teams would exchange baskets for most of the quarter and the Jets would go to the final period with a four point lead, 51-47. In the final period, the Jets would start to pull away with the contest as they would outscore the Blue Tigers 30-12 in the final period. Newman would gain their largest lead of the game after
Amoni White made two free throws with 40 seconds left to give the Jets an 81-59 lead as the Jets would snap a four game losing streak.
THE COACHES
Darin Spence begins his ninth season as the Jets head coach, leading the Jets to a 3-6, 3-6 in the MIAA record so far in the 2020-21 season. Spence has compiled a 593 wins as a head women's basketball coach over a 29-year span across NCAA Division I and Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA schools. His eight years with the Jets have seen him amass a record of 120-112 overall and a 59-53 mark in Heartland Conference play. Under Spence's tenure, the Jets reached the Heartland Conference tournament in six of his seven seasons. Before coming to Newman, Spence spent one season at Barton Community College and eight seasons at Division I New Mexico State.
Dave Slifer enters his 17th season at the helm of the Jennies in the 2020-21 season. He had led the Jennies to 10 NCAA postseason berths and a National Championship in 2017-18 with the Jennies best record in team history. Among active head coaches, Slifer enters the season as the fourth winningest active head coach in Division II and 17th across all three divisions, with his 717 career victories. His .742 winning percentage is 13th among active NCAA Coaches, third in Division II.

This will be the third meeting between these two schools with the Jennies leading the series 2-0 over Newman including last years 62-59 win in Wichita, Kansas.
LAST TIME VS CENTRAL MISSOURI
In the first quarter,
Kaitlyn Potter broke the Newman career three pointers made record with her 151st made three with 2:46 left in the quarter. In the second quarter the back and forth scoring continued until Newman would go on a 11-2 run midway through the quarter to get their largest lead on the game, 8 points with 5:03 left. Newman would lead by 4 points at the half 37-33. In the second half, Newman would go ice cold shooting 9-30 from the field, and would get outscored 29-22 by Central Missouri (10-3, 4-0). The Jets would fall 62-59 with a missed three by Potter as time expired.
