MARYVILLE, Mo. - Newman squared off against the Bearcats Sunday afternoon. The Jets took a 1-0 defeat on a soggy, stormy day.
The Jets entered Sunday with an eagerness to simply put a positive result on their season record. After falling 1-0 to NWMSU the Jets now sit at 1-12-1, 1-8 MIAA. The record seldom reflects the effort and execution
Jay Holmes' team brought forth this year.
In Sunday's match, Newman was out shot 15-8 with 3 shots on goal. The stingy back line for the club was pitching a shutout with keeper
Jackie Lari as the final defense for the Jets until 67:16. Hannah Stirling of NWMSU got the only goal of the match unassisted. For Lari, she stopped 5 of the 6 shots on goal from the Bearcats.
Offensively, Newman created opportunities in both halves, yet could not break though.
The Jets will look to fight back better against the UCO Bronchos on the road Friday night. The team will then return home Sunday, October 31st for a 1 PM kick. Sunday will be Senior Day.
