Here's how Tuesday's match went down: 25-22, 25-21, 28-26 with Pitt State victorious in each of the sets. The Jets were very clearly contending in the match. The feeling was that Newman was so close in each set, but could not get over the proverbial hump.
The Jets were solid in some areas and lackluster in others. Offensively Newman kept the pace up with Pitt State, hitting .211 to their .246. The Jets were led by
Salome Romp who had 11 and
Jada Key as well as
Riley Daugherty with 9 a piece. Newman was led in blocks by
Imani Jones who had 5. One are the JEts struggled in was service. The Jets had 8 total service errors that killed scoring runs, keeping them from taking control of sets early on.
The Jets are doing things right, it just becomes a matter of stringing positive event after positive event together and creating positive outcomes for the club.
Jose Lugo and his squad will take the floor again Friday afternoon as the Jets take on the Hornets of Emporia State. Friday's match will begin at 6 PM following the honoring of seniors
