WICHITA, Kan. - Newman hosted GAC opponent Southern Nazarene Thursday night at Wilkins Field. The Jets jumped out to a 1-0 lead, but fell 3-2.
The Jets were coming of their first win of the season, but could not back their win up with another victorious result as their comeback attempt came up a goal short. Newman falls to 1-14-1, 1-9 GAC/MIAA. Southern Nazarene advances to 11-6, 8-3 GAC/MIAA.
The game began with a feeling out process until 15:07 when
Joao Moreira headed a through ball from
Asa Moncivais. Newman was out to an early 1-0 lead..
The next three goals came from SNU beginning in the 32nd minute to even the game at one. The Crimson Storm started to stick it to the Jets scoring at 50:44 and 61:05. The Jets settled down the game and began shifting the momentum back thanks to 3 second half saves form
Laurin Aumueller. Aumueller finished the match with 6 saves.
Newman's
Matthew Roberts came off the bench and scored teh Jets second goal at 87:33. Roberts had two shots in just 18 minutes of play.
Newman wraps up the 2021 campaign with Senior Day. The ceremony is set to begin just before the 2 PM kickoff vs. Northeastern State on Saturday, November 6th.
