EDMOND, Okla. – The Jets took the short trip down I-135 to Edmond to take on the Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos would jump out to a big lead in the first half that Newman would not be able to overcome in the second half as they would fall to Central Oklahoma 94-61.
Neither team would be able to get much of anything going early in the first half as just five minutes into the opening period the Bronchos would lead 12-5. From that point on in the half, the Bronchos would take control. They would outscore Newman 35-11 to close out the half, taking a 47-16 lead into the intermission.
In the second half, the Jets would play nearly even with the Bronchos as they would get outscored by just two points in the half. In a game that would be nearly identical to the first meeting with a reversed outcome, the Jets would fall to the Bronchos 94-61.
The Jets would be led in scoring by
Branden Bunn with 18 points.
Joel Boyce would add in 13 points and 8 rebounds. The Bronchos had five players score in double figures in the contest. Newman shot 20 of 61 from the floor for 33 percent and 9 of 27 from beyond the arc for 33 percent. Central Oklahoma would shoot 33 of 67 from the floor for 49 percent and 12 of 33 from three point range for 36 percent.
The Jets will be back in action on Monday, February 15
th as they travel to St. Joseph, Mo. to take on the Missouri Western Griffins in a rescheduled contest with tip-off set for 7:30 pm.
