TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Newman Men's Soccer team took on the Northeastern State Riverhawks Saturday afternoon in Great American Conference play. The Jets and Riverhawks would need extra time to decide the winner of the contest. Northeastern State would score on a corner kick in the first minute of extra time to take a 3-2 victory over Newman.

How It Happened
The Jets were out shot by the Riverhawks 24 to 9. Newman had five on goal, while Northeastern State would have eight on goal. The Jets would have five saves, while the Riverhawks would have 3. Newman would be awarded only three corner kicks, while Northeastern State would have 12. The Riverhawks would get the scoring started in the 8
th minute when Sam Scarth would find the back of the net beating
Jean Claude Consol. Newman would respond a few minutes later when
Felix Tellez Ramirez would beat the NSU goalkeeper to tie things at 1-1. Newman would take the lead 18 minutes later when
Ignacio Lerech would beat the keeper on a ball from
Diego Feitosa. The Jets would lead until the 81
st minute when the Riverhawks would tie the contest back up. Neither team would score after that forcing an overtime period. Forty seconds into extra time, NSU would put a corner kick into the box where they would be able to beat the Newman keeper for the 3-2 victory.
The Jets will be back in action on March 18
th, when they face off with Central Oklahoma at 6:00 pm in Wichita.
