Men's Soccer Falls to Crimson Storm 4-1

WICHITA, Kan. – On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the Newman Jets Men's Soccer team hosted the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm for Senior Day at Stryker Sports Complex. The Jets would be able to strike first in this contest, but Southern Nazarene would use a second half surge to defeat the Jets by a final score of 4-1.

In the 22nd minute, Luke Mills would beat the Crimson Storm goalkeeper to give the Jets and early 1-0 lead.

How It Happened

The Jets would be outshot by the Crimson Storm 15-3 in this match and 9-2 with shots on goal.  The scoring began in the 22nd minute, when Luke Mills beat the Crimson Storm goal keeper to give the Jets the 1-0 lead.  Southern Nazarene would respond a couple minutes later when Orlando Castro beat Jean Claude Consol to tie the game 1-1 heading into halftime.  The match would remain 1-1 until the 73rd minute when Orlando Castro beat Consol in the back of the net for his second goal of the game.  Southern Nazarene would add to their lead in the 81st minute when Angel Lopez scored in the bottom right of the goal to give the Crimson Storm a 3-1 lead.  The Crimson Storm would add the crushing blow to the match in the 89th minute when Eric Romero scored to give Southern Nazarene a 4-1 lead that would be enough as Southern Nazarene would spoil Newman's Senior Day with a 4-1 win over the Jets.

The Jets will be back in action on March, 31st  as they travel to take on Friends University with kick-off scheduled for 7:00 PM.
