WICHITA, KS - Newman opened their home season play with a 3-2 loss to Missouri-St. Louis.
Matthew Roberts scored two goals in the first half for the Jets. 3 second half goals by the Tritons ultimately pushed UMSL to victory. The Jets have started the season 0-4-0 while the Tritons picked up their first victory making their record 1-1-0.

Luke Mills had an early connection Friday afternoon. The pair put the Jets up 2-0 in the first half. Mills had two beautiful feeds to set up Roberts with easy finishes. The Jets out shot the Tritons 6-3 in the first half.
Laurin Aumueller was only tested once in the period and proved to be strong.
In the second half momentum changed when the Tritons netted their goal via penalty kick. Garrett Bass beat
Laurin Aumueller on the try. Later in the half a misplayed ball trickled in for the Tritons. That goal was credited to Gabe Stanislawski. With the score 2-2 now, the Jets began their push to retake the lead, but were unsuccessful. In the final minute, the Tritons flipped the field quickly on the Jets and it was a cross from Leo Sowa that Cole Prado buried with a header.
Aumueller finished with 5 saves as the Tritons ambushed the Jets with 16 second half shots.
Matthew Roberts netted his first and second goals of the season while
Luke Mills picked up his first two points on the year with the two assists.
The Jets look to regroup from the late defeat at home on Sunday, September 19 as they take on the MSU Denver Roadrunners at 12:00 PM on Wilkins Field. That game will be followed by Women's Soccer who will take on the Bronchos of UCO at 2:30. For tickets visit
