WICHITA, KS - Newman falls to 0-5 to open the 2021 campaign. They were bested by MSU Denver 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Jets were short six players due to internal team disciplinary decisions. Newman only allowed one goal thanks to the stellar play of
Laurin Aumueller who turned away five of the Roadrunners' six attempts on goal.
Newman got two shots to test MSU Denver's Ross Miller.
Matthew Roberts and
Nathan Huie put an attempt on goal each. Huie did so in just 15 minutes off of the bench for the Jets. His ability to impact the game in such a short spurt helped the Jets stay within their game.
It was again the late goal bug that bit the Jets. The Roadrunners buried their game winning goal at the 80:49 mark.
For the Jets it is their fourth one goal decision on the season. They open conference play against Rogers State on Thursday, September 23 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM.
