HALF 1
Both the Bison and the Jets were scarce for scoring opportunities with two shots each. The Jets tested the Bison goalkeeper twice with a shot by Luke Mills at 16:02 and again when Isaac Iseman 23:39 connected on a ball at Nick Foederer.
There were 5 yellow cards assessed in half #1. In a strong and contested 45 minutes, there was also an ejection for Harding when Donnell Bowes was assessed a red card in the 27th minute for his second yellow card just 3 minutes after his first.
HALF 2
The second half started with more of the same. Neither team could separate themselves from the other. The back and forth continued through 90 minutes full-time. The Jets headed into overtime with a total of 4 shots on goal for the Jets and just one on net for the Bison.
1st OT
Joao Moreira had two second half shots that nearly sent the Jets home with a walkoff victory. At 90:33 his long shot was met by the goalkeeper at the near post with a sliding stop. After booting one on net from near the midfield stripe, Moreira tried the Bison goalkeeper again from the top of the box. The Bison goalie stood strong.
The Jets were lucky with a blocked shot after Andrew Wagner kicked a rebound after a Bison corner. After 10 minutes the Jets remained at 0-0.
2nd OT
The Bison and the Jets were struggling to separate themselves after 100 minutes of play. The Bison had been a man down since the 27th minute and were thwarting every opportunity the Jets were trying to create.
The game finished in a 0-0 tie.
The Jets are back on Wilkins Field Saturday, October 2nd, as they take on the Ouachita Baptist Tigers. Kickoff is slated for 12:00 PM. Stay tuned to schedule updates and more at newmanjets.com
