WICHITA, KS - Newman took on UCO on Saturday in Fugate Gymnasium.  The Jets came into the match just 15 hours removed from their conference opening victory over MSSU in Joplin.
The Jets now 5-3 (1-1) on the year came out strong early only.  the Jets hit .302 and recorded 19 kills on the 26 points scored in their first set victory.
It was not more of the same in sets two through four.  The Bronchos were on the attack hitting no worse than .324 resulting in a .316 hitting percentage for the match.  After winning set 1 26-24, the Jets fell 25-18, 25-19, 25-18.
Jose Lugo's team was uncertain defensively late in the match.  Falling out of position and with communication breakdowns, the Jets did not appear the same as they have in previous matches.
There were bright spots in the match.
Jada Key led the charge hitting .636 with 7 kills on 11 attempts.  She also added a couple service aces and block assists to her line.
Paiton Haga and
Riley Daugherty continued bringing their shovels digging 18 and 23 of teh Bronchos attacks respectively.  The latter also tallied 11 kills.
Salome Romp led the team with 15 kills.
Abby Borough got involved by stuffing three Broncho attacks at the net.
Newman will look to tidy up their shortcomings from late in this match.  Their 7 service aces were matched with 7 service errors which was again uncharacteristic.
