Pittsburg, KS - It was not Newman's night against Pittsburg State. The Gorillas downed the Jets with ease across straight sets.
Newman, now 5-6 (1-4 MIAA), is on a 4 game losing skid after Tuesday night's loss. Pittsburg State 9-4 (3-2 MIAA) handed the Jets their 4th consecutive defeating the three sets 25-15, 25-11, and 25-19.
The Jets struggled to get anything going in the match. Offensively the Jets only swung .143. Though the Jets did tally 4 blocks, with 2 being recorded by
Jada Key, the Gorillas had their way in the three sets. Pittsburg State swung .308 on the night.
It truly was the Gorillas night as they surrendered the lead only twice as the Jets took a 1-0 lead in set 2 and then jumped out to a 13-10 lead in set 3. The Jets could not recapture the momentum in that third set which eventually became the ultimate set for the match.
The Jets are back to the drawing board in the midst of their 4 game slide. Newman and Coach
