WICHITA, KS – In their return to Wilkins Field for the first time since the fall of 2019, the Jets fall 2-0 to a physical Drury Panthers squad in a weather shortened match. Lightning forced the halting and completion of the game with 7:09 remaining in the second half.
The lack of opportunities offensively for the Jets helped Drury Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Knetzke hold the Jets to an empty score card. Just one shot required her mitts to keep the Jets away.
On the other end, the Panthers netted one in each half. Chloe Cash scored off a pass from Elsa Gonzalez at the 22:24 mark. In the second half, Brinn Cooper struck just before the lightning struck at 82:32. That goal was the last play of the game that was called due to lightning.
For the Jets,
Jackie Lari made 4 stops trying to hold off the Panthers push.
Maria Stephens was given a yellow card at 82:32 in a physical contest. Two Panthers were awarded yellow cards in the first half for their aggression.
Up next: The Jets return to Wilkins Field Sunday, September 5 against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 PM.
