Pueblo, CO - Men's soccer finished up their trip to Colorado with a shutout loss to Colorado State-Pueblo. After Friday's 3-2 defeat, the Jets took the field against the Thunderwolves.
Juan Carlos Cordova got the start in net for Newman. His debut was nearly flawless aside from a late first half goal scored by Carlos Espinoza of CSU Pueblo.
For Newman offensively, opportunities were hard to come by. Just 2 shots and 0 on net allowed CSU Pueblo's Will Whitworth to keep a clean sheet. CSU Pueblo had 6 of their 21 shots on net. The lack of opportunities for Newman and multitude of chances for CSU Pueblo resulted in a 1-0 loss for the squad.
Cliff Brown's team struggled offensively against the Thunderwolves stingy defense. The Jets will look to turn that around here quickly as they travel back home. Just one shot in each of the halves is not ideal, but one thing Newman can hang its hat on is an impressive showing from their own defense and
Juan Carlos Cordova's superb debut.
Up next: The Jets will travel to Edmond, OK on Wednesday, September 9 for a 7 PM kickoff against Oklahoma Christian.
