Bethany, Okla. - The Jets Men's soccer team traveled to Oklahoma on Saturday night to take on the 3-4-3 Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm. The match would have two starkly different halves in terms of attacking action, with a total of six goals being scored over the course of the match. SNU would take the match, as Newman falls to 0-10-1 on the season.
First half
The game began with a lot of aggression from the Jets, as they pushed the ball down field for the first 10 minutes of play. The first real opportunity for Newman came after a foul 15 minutes in set up a free kick, leading to a shot that went wide past the goal. After this is when SNU would start to create some chances of their own, leading to their first goal of the match scored 28 minutes into the match by Daniel Trojman. SNU would score again shortly after in the 30th minute to raise their lead to 2-0 going into halftime.
Second Half
The second half would be a much different story with SNU pressuring Newman from the start. Despite some stellar defending from the Jets back line, SNU would again find the back of the net in the 75th and 81st minute to start a run of 4 goals between both teams in 10 minutes of play. Directly after the kickoff, Newman would fight back down the field and score off a shot from Senior Mathew Roberts to eliminate the possibility of a shut out. SNU would score the final goal of the game in the 85th minute to take the match 5-1.
