Newman volleyball started their weekend road trip of Missouri on Friday with their first stop in St. Joseph, Missouri to take on the Missouri Western Griffons. Both teams have struggled so far in MIAA play and Newman looked to shake off a rocky game against SNU on Tuesday and rebound with a win on Friday night before continuing their road trip to Warrensburg, Missouri to face the #18 Jennies of UCM.
Newman couldn't find an answer for the Griffons attack as MWSU outhit the Jets today .240 to .148.Â
Riley Daugherty was the lone Jet with double digit kills in Friday's match.
Abby Borough finished the game with 8.
The Griffons out-blocked the Jets 12-4, and outscored Newman 62-43 on the night.
Mckinzie Weaver,
Natalie Trigo, and
Natalie Morales finished the game with 12 digs each.
Newman (7-10, 2-5) will have to have a short memory as they face a tough opponent tomorrow in Central Missouri (9-6, 4-2) in Warrensburg, Missouri in a game scheduled for 6:30 PM.Â
