WARRENSBURG, Mo. – The #18 Central Missouri Jennies (10-6, 5-2) defeated Newman (7-11, 2-6) Saturday night in 4 sets (16-25,18-25, 25-16,18-25) in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Newman couldn't figure out their first set struggles, with the #18 Jennies taking the first 2 sets in convincing fashion before Newman got off to a hot start in the 3rd set, going on an 11-3 run to stop an 8 set losing streak. Riley Daugherty had 4 kills in this set to go along with 4 digs, finishing with 16 kills and 11 digs overall.
Senior Abby Borough led the Jets with 14 kills, finishing the match with a .313 hitting percentage with 7 block assists and 2 solo blocks.
NU kept the 4th set close, keeping UCM's lead to as little as 2 but a UCM 5-0 run ended the match and gave the Jennies their 10th victory of the season to end a 2 game losing streak.
Newman (7-11, 2-6) will travel to Edmond, Oklahoma to face Central Oklahoma (17-2, 7-2) in a matchup set for 6 PM on Tuesday.
