Men's Golf host first MIAA designated event

NEWTON, Kan – Newman hosted their only home golf event of the fall season as the Newman Invitational was in full swing on Monday and Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station in Newton. The tournament consisted of 16 teams and needed 2 days to complete rounds 1 and 2. Round 3 finished late in the afternoon following the completion of round 2 late in the morning.
 
Newman finished 16th in the tournament. The Jets were able to salvage the first 2 rounds by shooting lower each round with scores of 343, 339, and 328.
 
Braxton Muldoon had the best result for Newman, tying for 71st and ending the tournament with 34 pars which put him in the top 22 in that category. Justin Looper ended the rounds with 2 birdies and finished the back 9 of round 3 at even par. Jackson Lewis and Jaden Hightower tied for 82nd at +42 and Bailor Harris finished in 84th.
 
Concordia St. Paul took home the first place team award and Jackson Cole from Arkansas Tech won the Newman Invitational Individual Award finishing -1 on the tournament and finishing with 2 eagles in a close race for first place.

The Men's team returns to action for their final tournament in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for the Tulsa Cup next Monday and Tuesday.
