TOPEKA, Kan. - Fresh off a 4 set victory last night at Empoira State, Newman hit the road this afternoon and traveled up to Topeka, Kansas to take on the #12 nationally ranked Washburn Ichabods. The prior matchup between the 2 teams saw Washburn take the match in straight sets in a highly competitive match.

Washburn took the first 2 sets 25-12 and 25-16 but Newman wasn't going to make it easy for the #12 Ichabods.

The Jets wouldn't back down as they found themselves in a 5 point deficit at 20-15 but a Newman 8-2 run capped off with an Ajekwu kill put the Jets up 23-22 and made Washburn Head Coach Chris Herron call 2 timeouts in a short span.

The #12 Ichabods would then mount the comeback and finish the set on a 3-0 run to earn the sweep over Newman. The Ichadnods outhit Newman .284 to .071.

Mckinzie Weaver had 25 assists on the night. Newman had 8 blocks on the night.
