WICHITA – The Jets wrestled in their home opener for the 2022-23 season on Wednesday and took a 25-21 victory over Cowley. Newman took six of the ten matches while dropping three matches wrestled and one by open weight at 197lbs.
 
Dylan Sheler opened up the night with a win by fall for the Jets, setting the tone for the squad. After dropping two matches in a row, Colby Schreiner got them back on track with a major decision win (11-2) followed by a pin in 54 seconds by Hunter Dietrich.
 
The Jets would go on to rip off three strait wins by decision from Jace Fisher, Vincenzo Oliva, and JD Johnson. Going up 25-9, Newman would guarantee themselves the win with only two matches to go. After dropping six points to open weight and a loss by fall after that, the dual would end with a score of 25-21.
