Jets place three at NCAA Super Region IV Championship

EDMOND, Okla.- Wrestling traveled to Edmond, Oklahoma to compete at NCAA Super Region IV Championship. Three Jets placed at Regionals, Foust claimed fifth place, Mapp placed sixth, and Wunsch placed fourth. 

Caleb Wunsch (285 lb)- Fourth Place
Wunsch started his day off with a win over Joseph Scarborough of TMU by fall (1:51, 5-0). In his next match, Wunsch took on Torin Forsyth. Forsyth of UCM would defeat Wunsch by major decision, 9-0. Wunsch would rally in his next match, defeating Gavyn Uribes of Kentucky Wesleyan by fall (3:25). This win pushed Wunsch to the third round of consolation. Wunsch would go on to win his next two matches, first taking the win over Caleb Groff of Quincy by fall (2:14). Then, Wunsch matched up against Ryan Nichols of UCO where he defeated Nichols by decision, 7-3. This claimed his spot in the third place match to try and punch his ticket to the National tournament. Wunsch took on BK Seago of Ouachita Baptist in the third place match. Wunsch took the early 1-0 lead with an escape in period two. Seago then claimed two points for a reversal in the third period that tied it at 2-2. Wunsch took another point with an escape. Seago would then claim one point for riding time at the end of the third period to take the match over Wunsch, 3-2. Wunsch would place fourth. 

Jevin Foust (133 lb)- Fifth Place
Foust received a first round bye. In his first match, Foust fell just short by decision at 5-2 to JP Homfeld 5-2. Foust would then rally to win his next match by fall (1:17) over Dylan Roth of Drury. Foust then won his next match by technical fall, defeating his opponent 15-0. In the next round, Foust fell to UCM's Drew Stanfield by just one point, 7-6. This pushed Foust to the fifth place match, where he took the win by forfeit. Foust would place fifth. 

Chris Mapp (184 lb) - Sixth Place
Two byes started off Mapp's day. In his first match, Mapp fell by technical fall to Branson Britten of UCO, 17-1. Mapp then fell to Callan Ivy of Quincy by decision, 6-0. Mapp would wrestle for fifth place against Christian Chavez of UIndy. In the fifth place match, Mapp would fall just short, dropping the match by decision, 8-5. Mapp claims sixth place in 185 lb. 

Jaxson Newcomb (125lb)
After receiving two byes, Newcomb dropped his first match to Nathan Smith of UIndy by fall at 5-0. Newcomb would fall in his next match by technical fall (22-3) to end his tournament run. 

Kaven Bartlett (141 lb)
Bartlett dropped his two matches of the day, one by technical fall to Nathan Wishine of Drury and the other by decision (5-1) to Caleb Carter of Maryville. 

Colby Schreiner (149 lb) 
Schreiner opened his day with a win over MAtt Ellis of TMU, winning by decision (4-2). In his second match, Schreiner fell by major decision to Sabian Russel of Quincy, 13-5. Schreiner would cap off his day against Leo Buchheit of Maryville, dropping a close match by decision at 5-4. 

Elijah Means (157 lb)
After a first round bye, Means dropped his opening match by technical fall (16-0) to James Hoskinson of McKendree. Means would defeat his next opponent. Means took this match, 12-6 by decision over Hunter Isaacs of TMU. This win secured his spot in round three of consolation. In his next round, Means fell to UCM's Ayden Dolt by technical fall, ending his tournament run. 

Jayden Ford (165lb)
After receiving a first round bye, Ford dropped his first match by fall (2:26) to UCO's Bryce Dauphin. Ford would end his day against Mustafa Salimi of Maryville, falling by decision (7-1).

Skyler Geer (174lb)
Geer dropped his first match of the day to Zeke Waltz of McKendree by fall (2:67) after receiving a first round bye. In his second match, Geer fell to Shane Bates of UINDY by decision, 13-7, to cap off his tournament run. 

Erik Tomanek (197 lb)
Tomanek received a first round bye, and would drop his first match to Logan Kvien of McKendree by technical fall. Tomanek would end his day in a match against Drayden McKerrow of Kentucky Wesleyan, falling by decision at 8-4.
