WICHITA, Kan. – Newman hosted #12 UCO on Saturday afternoon inside Fugate Gymnasium.
Newman falls to 4-17 (1-15 MIAA) with the loss in their lone contest of the week as UCO and the Jets are travel partners in the MIAA. #12 UCO is now 20-4 (15-3 MIAA) after making the trip north and containing Newman.
The Bronchos came out firing shooting a staggering 62.96% from the field and finishing the night 59.6% and 50% from three.
UCO's crisp ball movement led to 27 assists on 31 made field goals. Callen Haydon led the team with 13 assists and 12 points.
Haydon's teammate, Isaiah Wade recorded a double-double while leading the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Only one Jets could really get going as Barnes' scored 20 more points than his teammates with 26 points on the night. That mark also led all scorers on the night. The Redshirt Junior tallied the team's first 10 points and 15 of the first 18. Barnes also added a career high 6 steals.
As for the rest of the Jets, the team shot 12-43.
Newman is back in action Monday, February 14th as they host Missouri Western as a makeup game for a previously scheduled contest. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 PM on Valentine's Day.
