CLAREMORE, Okla. - Newman is set to take on the Rogers State Hillcats in Claremore for a three game set. The Jets and Hillcats will play a three game set to open up MIAA play for both clubs.
Games 1 & 2 will be played as a doubleheader starting at 12 PM on Sunday. The series will conclude Monday at 1 PM with the series finale.
Newman is 9-3 this season which is the program's best start since 2016. The true test begins this weekend as the MIAA conference is once again loaded with talent top to bottom. Offensively, the Jets are batting a comfortable .328 at the plate. With 19 long balls in the first 12 games, the runs have been abundant at 9.4 runs per game.
On the mound the Jets are led by strong starting pitching from
Asher Finke,
Nate Denniston and
Garrett VandeVenter. The entire pitching staff is generating 10.9 K/9 which has helped hold teams to just 84 runs, giving Newman a +29 run differential.
Their opponent, the Rogers State Hillcats sit at 4-6 after their 4-game sweep of Colorado Christian. The Hillcats are a perfect 11-11 on steals this year and get on base at a .362 clip. RSU pitching holds an ERA of 5.64 so the Jets will be challenged at the plate all series long.
