ALVA, Okla. – Newman travelled to take on the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers for a single game Wednesday afternoon.  The game was all Newman all day as the Jets rolled to a 17-5 victory.
Newman, winners of 4 straight, advance to 4-1 on the season while NWOSU falls to 1-3.
Garrett VandeVenter picked win number on the season throwing 6 innings of 9 hit ball allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 6.  VandeVenter gave the Jets exactly what they needed, limiting the Rangers' run scoring opportunities.
The Jets' offense continues its scorching hot output.  An offense that was averaging just over 10 runs per game hung 17 on the Rangers Wednesday.  7 of the 9 starters had multi-hit games.
Tyler Push went 3 for 6 with 1 RBI and a run scored, while
Anthony Ferrante walloped a grand slam in the top of the third on his way to a 5 RBI day.
NWOSU tallied 11 knocks, but left 9 on base which did not allow for them to overcome the early 2-0 hole in the top of the first.
Up next for the Jets is a trip to East Central where the Tigers and Newman will square off for a three game set.  A double header is scheduled for Saturday at 12 and 3 PM with a single game at 1 Pm on Super Bowl Sunday.  For more information on everything Newman Baseball, stay tuned to newmanjets.com.
