EDMOND, Okla. – Newman and UCO competed with the series on the line Sunday afternoon. The road warriors that are the Newman Jets Baseball team took the deciding third game by a score of 3-1.

With the series win Newman is now 16-13 (6-10 MIAA). The UCO series loss puts them at 16-12 (9-7 MIAA).
The visiting Jets jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first after
Tyler Push singled then stole second and third base during
Jenner Steele's at bat. Steele hit a fly ball deep enough to score Push.
In the top of the second, Newman scored another run on a
Jake Angelico single.
Jenner Steele returned to the plate and hit his team leading seventh homerun in the top of the third inning.
Down 3-0, UCO came up to the plate in the bottom of third and etched across their lone run on the afternoon with a sacrifice fly.
Asher Finke dominated the Broncho offense for 7 innings on the mound. The run in the third was the only scratch on his day. Finke struck out 8 over 7 innings, allowing just 4 hits on his way to his fifth win on the season.
After 7 strong innings, UCO had some déjà vu as
Ian Lecki came in and paved the way for
Connor Langrell to close the game out in the ninth.
Langrell punched out two batters and walked a pair as well. With the game winning run at the plate, the closer served up a ground ball to third that Choate fielded and tossed over to first. Langrell's sixth save sealed Newman's 5
th road series win.
