EMPORIA, Kan. – Newman and Emporia State wrapped up their three game set Sunday afternoon in Emporia. The Hornets continued their hot hitting early in game 3 to take the series two games to one.

Newman drops to 19-17 (9-14 MIAA). Emporia State is now 14-23 (8-15 MIAA) with the series win.
Emporia State jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the first inning. The Jets got four runs back in the home half of the second as
Lincoln Choate notched a solo blast and
Tyler Push cracked a three run homerun.
Newman starting pitcher,
Asher Finke was bounced from the game after 3.2 innings with 11 earned runs allowed. After four complete, the Jets were trailing 13-4.
Carson Hawks and
Anthony Ferrante went deep in the top of the sixth to bring the score to 13-6.
The Hornets added three in the bottom of the seventh to end the game and clinch the series win.
