MARYVILLE, Mo. – Newman and Northwest Missouri State continued their series Saturday afternoon.  The Bearcats came out swinging to win the game 13-7.

Final Newman 7 Northwest Missouri State 13

Newman is now 17-15 (7-12 MIAA) following the back-to-back losses to open the weekend.  Northwest Missouri State stays hot as they are winners in 5 of their last 6.  The Bearcats are now 11-19 (7-12 MIAA).

The Jets took an early 1-0 lead with a Zack Stewart RBI double scoring Tyler Push.

The Bearcats scored 8 runs over the first two by the way of a 3-run homerun in the first and a grand slam in the second.

Hayden VanDePol hit a 2-run homerun in the top of third to close the game to 8-3.  The Jets picked up another run when Jenner Steele grounded out to third.  Jake Angelico scored on the play.

Northwest tacked on 5 more runs with two solo blasts and by taking advantage of some Jet miscues.  The Jets tallied 5 errors in the field.

Heading into the ninth trailing 13-4, the Jets looked to muster up some scoring.  Billy Rice cut the lead to 8 with an RBI single.  He was followed up later in the inning by Tyler Push who triples home two runs to make it 13-7.  Push was left stranded at third to end the inning as the Jets could not muster any more runs in the inning.
