EMPORIA, Kan. – Newman and Emporia State continued their MIAA series on Saturday. The Hornets evened up the series with more big flies. The offense closed out the game over the final two innings with 11 runs.

Newman drops to 19-16 (9-13 MIAA). Emporia State is now 13-23 (7-15 MIAA) after evening up the series.
The Jets and Hornets played another back and forth game in the first 5 innings. It was Newman leading 6-5 before the top of the sixth. By the time the 6
th had ended, the Jets trailed 11 to 6.
Starting pitcher
Nate Denniston left the game after throwing 5+ innings with the game tied at 6 and a runner on. Denniston's inherited run scored on a three run homerun off of the pitcher who relieve him,
Andrew Prieve. Prieve recorded no outs and was relieved by
Colby Wilson who got out of the inning, but the damage had already been done as the Hornets led 11-6.
ESU scored another 5 runs in the bottom of the 7
th to end the game.
Hayden VanDePol led the Jets with 2 RBI.
Jenner Steele had 3 hits and an RBI.
Tyler Push had 2 hits, 2 steals 3 runs and an RBI of his own.
