WICHITA – Newman Athletics held the 38
th Annual Laurie Bell Memorial Jet Open on Monday, August 1
st at Rolling Hills Country Club in Wichita. 44 teams filled with alums, donors and friends of Newman Athletics hit the links on a gorgeous day.
"It really was a fantastic day to support Newman Athletics," said
Joanna Pryor, Director of Athletics. "It is always overwhelming to see the support that our alumni, donors, and friends show during the Jet Open and with the online auction. Watching everyone come together to make it a success is a beautiful thing. The Jet Open Committee works very hard every year to make this event a success and they have made it happen again."
The morning began with a 7:30 AM tee time. By lunchtime, members of the Advanced Orthopedic Associates team had secured the top placement in the first flight. Paul Cleland, Head Athletic Trainer
Cam Clark, former baseball assistant coach Robbie Rea and Craig Howell hit a day long best 51.
In the afternoon, it was members of the Doonan Truck & Equipment taking home the top flight prize. Ryan Alefs, Jamie Castaneda, Mike Butler and Denver Harris bested all afternoon teams with a 53.

At 7 PM Monday, the online auction wrapped up. 11 days of bidding culminated with over 50 items purchased in support of Newman Student-Athletes.
