LAKEWOOD, Colo. - The Jets men's soccer team continued their road trip to Colorado on Sunday afternoon with a match against Colorado Christian. It was another tough physical match for Newman with both teams receiving two yellow cards and a total of 27 fouls occurring throughout.
The Jets attempted to get out to an early lead in the 13th minute with a shot on goal by Matthew Roberts that ended up blocked. Shots would be hard to come by for Newman during the rest of the game, as they ended up with just 2 overall. Keeper Juan Carlos Cordova would end the game with 4 saves and a clean sheet to keep CCU out of the net despite them having multiple opportunities to score and take a possible lead. CCU would end the game with 5 shots on goal and were the only team to receive corner kicks, but a successful defensive effort by Newman would keep them out of the net and both teams would end the game scoreless.
The Jets will take some much needed rest before traveling to Hays, Kansas next Saturday on September 17th to play Fort Hays State at 3PM.
