CLAREMORE, Okla. – Newman Women's soccer ended their weekend with a road trip to Oklahoma for a matchup against Rogers State. The Jets were looking to notch their first victory of the season and gain momentum going into next week.
Newman's
Jordan Webster stopped 9 of the 11 shots she faced in the match, keeping her team in the game and giving them a chance against an offensive heavy team in Rogers State. Rogers State got on the board just a little over 14 minutes into the game off a goal by Vanessa Gonzalez. Newman tried to answer back as
Tate Cuffy got off a shot just 30 seconds later that was blocked.
The Jets found themselves down 2-0 early in the 2nd half as the Hillcats scored again just 24 seconds into the half. The 2-0 lead was enough to hold off the Jets as Newman was only able to muster off 1 shot on goal by
Cassie Moeder in the 48th minute.
The Jets return to Wichita and will face Northeastern State next Friday, September 16th in a home match scheduled for 7 PM.
