WICHITA - The Jets Men's soccer team dropped a game to the Harding Bisons Thursday night after morning showers made for rough field conditions during play. The Jets lost the game 4-1, with tensions running high for both teams as a total of 6 yellow cards were dealt out through the game. 
 
This was just the 5th match that Newman has played against Harding, and they came into the game trying to even the score after falling behind 3-1 all time against them last year. Harding took the lead at the 16 minute mark and from there things got heated between both teams. Shortly after that goal, a series of physical plays on both sides of the ball led to the first two yellows of the game being distributed to each side respectively. From there, Harding was able to take advantage of the situation and score another two goals in the 32nd and 34th minute.
 
After coming out of halftime down 3-0, Newman stormed down the field with Freshman Farid Robles putting in a tough close shot in the 49th minute, scoring his first goal of the season and swinging the momentum back in the Jets favor. Over 20 minutes of play went by before the next goal as the wet conditions on the field were made evident by players finding it hard to keep their footing and control the ball in close challenges. Harding was able to put in their 4th and final goal of the night in the 72nd minute, and after 18 more minutes of intense soccer, the match ended 4-1 in favor of Harding.
 
The Jets will be hosting again in two days, as they look to recover and get their first win of the season as they face an 0-7-2 Ouachita Baptist team this Saturday, September 24th at 12 PM.
