Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jets fall to #4 Jennies on the road

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Jets Women's soccer team continued their trip to Missouri Sunday afternoon as they traveled to play an undefeated UCM Jennies team. The young Newman team went into the game hoping to find their first win, but after a 5-0 defeat, will drop to an 0-9-1 record on the season.

First Half

The game started with the Jets seeing a lot of pressure on their side of the field for the first 12 minutes of play, kicked off by an early UCM corner in the 2nd minute. Newman was finally able to try and create some chances of their own after Junior midfielder Rachel Wolecki made a key pass around a UCM defender to start a run, but they were unable to get a shot off.

Things turned more in the Jennies favor as they pushed back down the field again and created a number of chances for themselves. After multiple shots and a corner, UCM's Ashleigh Martin found the net to start what would be a 10 minute run of goals as they scored again in the 25th and 28th minutes of play to go up by 3. Their run was put to an end by Senior defender Bailey Stedman as she made a clutch stop and the Jets pushed the ball downfield 30 minutes in.

After some back and forth action from both teams trading runs up the midfield, Newman again found themselves facing pressure with 5 minutes left in the half, surviving a dangerous late corner before the whistle and going into halftime down 3-0.

Second Half

The second half wasn't much different for the Jets as after trading attacking runs, Central Missouri was fouled in the box leading to a penalty kick that was scored by Madilyn Hamline 8 minutes into the half, raising their lead to 4-0.

Newman would get aggressive following that goal, pushing downfield to create some chances for themselves as Sophomores Cassie Moeder and Makenzie Shay put up shots but were unable to find the back of the net.

UCM would take the ball downfield again 10 minutes later and score again in the 67th minute after some chaos saw a yellow card dealt out to Newman. After some back and forth play around midfield, neither team would be able to find the net again as UCM took the game 5-0.

The Jets will continue to search for that elusive first win of the season on Friday night, September 30th when they host another undefeated team in the Fort Hays State Tigers at 7PM.
