WICHITA – The Jets Men's soccer team took to Wilkins Field for some Thursday night soccer action as they hosted the 4-1-1 Northeastern State Riverhawks in another conference matchup. Newman would fall 4-0 to NSU, as they move to 0-9-1 on the season and remain winless in conference play.
First Half
The game began even for both teams with 10 minutes of midfield play before NSU was able to get the first shot off a corner kick. From there, Newman was able to fight the ball back downfield resulting in a flurry of chances that unfortunately saw no goal. It was a frustrating battle for both teams as they fought for chances with NSU holding the advantage in shots up until 42 minutes in when Ryan McCully would score, giving them a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
Second Half
The second half is where things would go badly for the Jets, as NSU pressured them early. It took a worse turn 11 minutes into the half when NSU would start a run that saw them score three times in just under 2 minutes, one of which off a far shot taken almost from the midfield by Luan Lamas from a free kick opportunity, before ending their run of goals in the 57
th minute. The Jets would attempt to get back into the game, getting shots off up until the 90
th minute, but would end the game scoreless as NSU took a 4-0 lead
