KEARNEY, NE - Newman wrestling traveled northwest for Saturday's Midwest Duals, hosted by Nebraska Kearney.
The Jets faced the Colorado School of Mines, Adams State, and Chadon State on Saturday morning/afternoon.
Newman would take on Colorado School of Mines in their first dual and fall 33-12. It would be the closest dual out of the three the Jets competed in.
Colby Schreiner, Hunter Dietrich, and JD Johnson were the lone Jets to pick up victories in the first dual. Schreiner won by pinfall at 4:57 over Weston Diblasi. Hunter defeated Carson Dulitz by a 3-1 decision and JD Johnson defeated Levi Farris by a 10-8 decision.
Adams State would be the next opponent for Newman, who would fall 46-3 to the Grizzlies. Jevin Foust picked up the 3 points for Newman after defeating Isaiah DeLaCerda in a 6-3 decision.
The Jets wrapped up the Midwest Duals by facing another tough opponent in Chadron State. Newman would only take 6 points in the dual when Caleb Wunsch won by pinfall.
Newman will return to the mat next Sunday when they travel to Hays, Kansas to face Fort Hays State at noon in their second to final MIAA matchup of the season.
