Tigers score late goal to deny Jets draw

Jets leveled match with ten minutes to play, but was not enough

WICHITA - The Jets were thwarted late by the Fort Hays State Tigers on Tuesday evening, in a match that was evenly contested till the very end.

The Jets had already traveled to Hays earlier in the season, being defeated 2-0 in the first conference game of the season.

It would be the Tigers that would take the advantage first, scoring in the 12th minute off a set piece.

The Jets would shape up defensively, and would tightly contest the remainder of the half.

The Jets would start the second half on fire, with Felix Tellez Ramierez having two shots on target within the first five minutes of the half.

The persistence would eventually pay off for Newman, as Alberto Romano scored his fourth goal of the season with just ten minutes remaining in the match. It would not be enough for the draw, as the Tigers scored with just a few minutes left in the game to win their second meeting of the season with a score of 2-1.

The Jets fall to 2-6-3 with the loss.

The Jets will be on the road for the next matchup, taking on #17 Southern Nazarene. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM.
