BETHANY, OK. - Men's Soccer pulled off one of their most impressive wins in recent memory, knocking off nationally ranked Southern Nazarene on the road in a 2-1 win.
The Jets had success the last time that they were on the road, defeating Harding 3-0 and drawing with Ouchita Baptist 4-4.
Mario De Roque proved to be the difference maker in the first half, as he scored his second goal of the season.
Carlos Bellosta Manchon provided his first of two assists in the game, which would also be his first two assists of the season.
The goal would be one of five shots that the Jets had in the first half, as they continued to give the Crimson Storm trouble till the end of the half.
Damian Gonzalez would be the next Newman player to get his name on the score sheet this season, coming shortly after a free kick situtation. Bellosta Manchon once again providing the assist in one of the Jets biggest moments of the season.
Southern Nazarene would get a goal back very late into the match, with less than a minute remaining., but it would not be enough as the Jets would win the game 2-1 in one of thieir biggest conference wins since joining the MIAA/GAC.
The Jets move to 3-6-3, with the result still keeping the Jets under Northeastern State for the moment in 5th place.
Newman will have two home matches next week, hosting Harding and Ouchita Baptist. Senior day will be held against OBU next Saturday, with kickoff slated for 1 PM.
