Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Jets nearly score with seconds left in last ditch attempt for a draw

Maylani Birckbickler's shot hit off the cross bar

ST. JOSEPH, MO. -  Women's Soccer lost in a heartbreaker on Sunday afternoon, with a last minute shot hitting off of the cross bar, in what would have seen a last minute draw for the Jets.

Missouri Western was the first team to take the advantage, with both of the Griffons goals coming in the first half and just minutes apart from each other.

Allison Hernandez would get the Jets on the board with her first goal of the season, slotting home a nice goal in the bottom left corner. Morgan Todd provided the assist, which was her first of the season.

The teams were both evenly matched in the second half, with neither side budging anything to the other side. Jordan Webster would make two saves in the half to help the Jets stay in the match.

Late drama would ensue in the match as well, as the Jets almost were able to steal a draw.

Maylani Birckbickler had a tremendous effort that was saved by the Griffons keeper with just about 45 seconds left. The shot was saved by the keeper and hit off the top woodwork to give Missouri Western the 2-1.

The Jets sit just several points behind a conference tournament spot, and will have three of their final four matches at home to end the regular season.
