WICHITA - Newman Volleyball continued their home stand on Saturday, taking on Missouri Western in a MIAA conference clash. The Jets had been swept by the Griffons in their previous meeting last month 

The two teams traded points in the early going of the first set, with the Jets having a 5-1 run to tie the game at 8. The Griffons would start to pull away, and would have six service aces, including scoring off of three straight late in the set. Missouri Western took the first set, 25-18. 

More service aces would start the Griffons off on the right track, but it would be the Jets who would respond to adversity first, coming back from a scoring hole that saw them take the lead for the first time in the match. 

The Jets would continue to push their lead, at one point leading by 2 points. The Griffons would then respond with a 6-0 scoring run, but the Jets were still not out of the game. A kill from Olivia Parsley put the set within reach again, but the Griffons would score the last four points to win another set with the scoreline of 25-18. 

The Jets were unable to muster much in the third set, only scoring 12 points and trying to fight out of a deep hole that the Griffons had dug. Missouri Western won the third and final set, 25-12. 

The Jets will host Central Oklahoma in their fourth straight home match on Tuesday, before heading to their final road matches of the season at Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney next week.
