WICHITA - Women's Soccer hosted the #9 Washburn Ichabods on Sunday afternoon, in a match that saw the Jets keep the game tight defensively for a majority of the 90 minutes.
Washburn broke through first after a stubborn Jets defense had started out the match well. The Jets would be able to keep the score at 1-0 going into half, and came close to having a good opportunity from
Allison Hernandez late in the half, but the play was called offside by a slight margin.
The Ichabods controlled the flow of the game through the second half, but the Jets would not budge until late in the half.
Two goals in the last ten minutes of the game put the contest out of reach despite the Jets looking solid in defense.
Jordan Webster was called on multiple times in the second half, and made several saves to help keep Newman in the game. The Jets could not get anything going offensivley, despite looking good going forward in their last game against Emporia State.
The Jets will host Northeastern State in their final home match of the season on Friday. Senior night will also occur that evening, with the ceremony beginning shortly before the kickoff at 7 PM.
