WICHITA - Men's Soccer returned home on Thursday, taking on the Northeastern State RiverHawks. The RiverHawks had been ranked in poll for several weeks this season, and received multiple votes in this weeks poll.
The Jets were coming off an impressive road trip, with a 3-0 over Harding and a thrilling 4-4 draw at Ouchita Baptist.
Both teams didn't come close to scoring, with multiple shots being hit above the cross bar.
The River Hawks were the first team to break through, scoring with just five minutes left in the first half. It would prove to be the only goal of the match.
The Jets continued to push and put a high press on in the early goings of the second half, dominating possession all across the field.
Paulo Villalobos had a decent shot on target near the middle of the half, but was saved by the RiverHawks keeper.
Felix Tellez Ramierez came agonizingly close twice in the second half, including one shot that hit off the top woodwork.
Following the result, the Jets sit in 5th place, just a few games behind Northeastern State in the standings.
The Jets will return home next Tuesday, looking to take a game off Fort Hays State, who defeated the Jets in the first conference match of the season with a 2-0 result.
