HAYS, KS. - Women's Soccer sunk to their second stright loss, coming against in state rival Fort Hays State. Although it was a loss, Newman made it diifuclt for the Tigers to score.
The Jets had two shots from
Cassie Moeder and
Makenzie Shay early in the half, with the Tiger goal keeper being forced to make several saves. Another two shots from Maylani Birckbickler troubled the Tigers, as it appeared the Jets would be the first team to make the breakthrough.
The Jets would end the half with 7 shots, but the game would remain knotted at 0-0.
The Tigers would turn the tables on Newman, controlling possession and threatining to score several times at the beginning of the half.
Fort Hays would finally break through in the 64th minute, and would add another less than 10 minutes later.
Grace Long had a try at goal with just seconds remaining, but was once again saved by the Tigers keeper. It was the only shot Newman had in the second half, while the Tigers had 12.
Newman will head to Nebraska-Kearney on Sunday at 1 PM, before heading on a Missouri roadtrip against Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri State next weekend.
