LIBERTY, MO. - Men's Basketball took to the road for the first time this season, playing in a thrilling offensive battle with the William Jewell Cardinals. 

The offensive play for both teams was at a high level, with both teams shooting at a high rate throughout the afternoon. 

The teams would battle for a leading position for the opening minutes of the game, with one scoring and the other quickly responding. The Jets would get a little separation, as they would lead by as many as five, but the tide would quickly turn in the Cardinals favor. 

A major run from the Cardinals really put the Jets down into a hole that they could not get out of, despite making a good amount of their shots. A three just before the halftime buzzer from William Jewell put them up by 16. 

Stevie Smith would score 7 of the Jets first 9 points in the half, but the Cardinals were still shooting lights out and would stay up by double digits. The closest the Jets would get would be down by 11, as the Cardinals would shoot almost 60% on their field goal attempts, including shooting 62.5% in the first half. 

Due to his good run in the second half, Stevie Smith would finish as the Jets leading scorer for the afternoon, getting 22 points and 12 points for an impressive double-double performance. Sam Somerhalder would score in double digits for the fourth consecutive game, notching 14 points and falling just one rebound short of a double-double. 

The Jets will be back at home on Tuesday, taking on Manhattan Christian in one of the final non-conference games of the season.
