Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball makes light work of Thunder; five Jets reach double digits

Somerhalder gets another double-double in win

WICHITA - Men's Basketball won their third game of the season behind a strong team performance against Manhattan Christian on Tuesday night.

Coming off a tough loss to William Jewell, the Jets were poised to show their offensive might and dominate the game from start to finish.

Newman would start off on a 14-0 run, with Stevie Smith and Sam Somerhalder being involved with a good portion of points and assists. Somerhalder even had two steals to open the game.

Graduate transfer Karrington Davis saw his first action of the season, scoring 7 points and grabbing 7 rebounds coming off the bench.

The Jets took an 18 point advantage going into the half, with the Thunder not looking poised to take the momentum of the game away from Newman.

Kaeson Fisher-Brown would be one of the top players on the night, scoring 13 points and going 5 of 7 from the floor.

Four other players would reach double digits, with freshman Zach Spitzer scoring 10 and just missing out on a double-double with 9 rebounds.

The Jets would normally be 20 or more points ahead during the contest, as Newman would cruise to a 87-65 victory.

The navy and red will have one final non-conference foe, as they will host Barclay College on Saturday before beginning conference play against Lincoln and Central Missouri next week.
