WICHITA - Volleyball continued their last home stretch to end the season on Saturday, taking on nationally ranked Central Missouri.
The Jets took the Jennies by surprise in the first set, nailing a service ace from
Avery Dempsey to get the scoring started. The Jets would keep pace with the Jennies for a decent portion of the early stages, with
Olivia Parsley getting two kills to keep Newman in the game.
The Jennies would only allow two points after Newman had narrowed the score down to five points. The run led to Central Missouri winning the first set 25-10.
The Jets were able to respond early in the second set on several occasions, but more long runs from Central Missouri hampered their offense, with multiple errors occurring on Newman's end. Jennies took the second set 25-14.
The Jets would go on their longest scoring run of the match, going on a 4-0 run to cut the Jennies lead down to three points. Newman struggled the rest of the way, leading to the Jennies sweeping.
Newman is down to just two games remaining this season, with games against Emporia State and Washburn set for next week.
