JOPLIN, Mo. - Men's and Women's Cross Country headed to the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday, and had yet another record breaking day for both squads.
Patricia Limo, who had finished in 9th at the MIAA Championships, finished in 11th place in a race of over 215. In her 6k performance, she once again beat her personal best by 40 seconds, which was a record set by her earlier this season. Limo has a chance at an at large bid for the NCAA Championships, which would make her the first woman in program history to qualify.
Several others had impressive races, as
Britton Kelly,
Nayelly Rosales and
Ashley Salgado all ran personal bests.
The Women finished in 21st place, which was an improvement from last years finish at 29th.
The men were lead by
Reagan Longei, who finished in 61st place, running the 10K in 32 minutes and 26 seconds.
Asher Brown and
Kevin Chemalmal also finished in the top 90 runners.
The men placed in 19th, which was up six spots from the previous season.
"It was very fitting to break more records at our last meet," said head coach
Josh Schepis. "I am very excited for Monday to see if Patricia qualified for the NCAA Championships. I can't remember a time when we had a team that continued to break records at this rate throughout the year. It was a very fun season."
